Congatulations to Bill Schaffer AIFD and Kris Kratt AIFD, of Schaffer Designs for taking home the coveted Best in Show - Floral award for our adaptation of the iconic film An American in Paris.

Surreal as it may seem Wish was commissioned to design and fabricate the exhibit for Tourism Ireland, the lone country represented within “Paris”.  This organization has been a repeat sponsor of the show since Ireland was the theme five years ago.

The parameters were to focus on trees and folklore. Giant Oaks were fabricated out of custom painted fabric and the Dolmen (ancient burial stone monolith pictured below) was a foam sculpture, layered with plaster and hard-coating.  The overall appearance resembles  a mixture of museum realism and theatrical whimsey.  A custom LED light fixture hung within the partial tree-trunk to remind us all that fairies do exist.

After a back to back streak of Best in Show awards for repeat client AIFD, the second highest point score was awarded for this exhibit, but there are no sore loosers here.  This exhibit is very literally the Paris Underground... a cavernous network of caves and passages with walls that have been canvases for marks of artists, vandals, and city workers for centuries. Much of it survived the Nazi bombing and invasion of Paris in WWII, and it’s modern state was unearthed as the the perfect setting for the abstract eclectic mesh of floral artistry that is AIFD.

Coco Chanel is honored in this art-house minimal exhibit for Beautiful Blooms Events LLC.  Wish brags the use of over 130 yards of her commonly used fabrics to cover wood boxes engineered to display blankets of floral accents .

Flowers By David was awarded the second highest point score for their dream-like environment using steel ring armatures designed and fabricated by Wish.
