4 minutes of fame

Back in May I met Mauro for coffee. He was a little late and apologetic, which is ironic because that is almost always me. We relaxed in the nice weather on a table outside starbucks, and he spoke enthusiastically about wanting to collaborate on a new project. He was making some life changes and wanted to do a project that brought some new interest, and played with some technology he was interested in. I am not one to insert myself into the spotlight, let alone bathe in attention, but I knew of his talents from some other stuff we had done with Capano Residential, and knew he would not let me come off like an eccentric tool. I was in.

he lit up when we talked about my metalshop. he was practically salivating over how cool welding would look at night, and in slow motion! my process of creating fine art out of found objects is a sloppy one, and one that depends on disorder to allow for spontaneous creativity. i was more concerned about anything related to wish to not come off as a hot mess, but it was impossible not to trust the man. i started regarding him as the italian stallion (mauro is a legit italian) and I think he was ok with that. whats more is that he brought josh into it and between the 3 of us, we turned a june friday night into something special. i cant thank them both enough, but especially my friend mauro for his vision. this mini-doc captures my very true self. the work i do in the day affords me to play at night, and this perfectly captures that.
